Short Life Lesson #1

Short Life Lesson _1

“In all of the universe there is only one thing.”

Hermetic Principle

Of course, we begin the Short Life Lesson series with an extremely heady and esoteric teaching. The easiest way to grasp this idea is to watch any of the hundreds of videos on YouTube that compare the size of planets and stars. It’s easy to feel like a unique individual and to overestimate your own importance within our known existence. In reality, we are an extremely small life form, on an extremely small planet, in a galaxy that is smaller than billions of others.

Here’s an example of one of those YouTube videos about the scale of the universe.

If we follow this thought out to the highest level, the level we can’t perceive or experience, at that level all of it fits into one single thing. Whether that’s god or a star, that’s up to you, but I believe this understanding helps everyone connect with the world around them.

We aren’t separate from each other, nor from nature, nor from the cosmos. We exist as a part living within this larger whole which is an extremely inclusive view of reality, and it’s not that hard to believe. Within your body, there are billions of cells embued with their own level of intelligence. These cells build nails, these cells grow hair, these cells create muscle tissue. They all live in the body doing their independent work to ensure the whole system is balanced and operational. Within these cells, there are atoms doing similar activities, and beyond the atoms quarks. All of existence is a series of levels nested on top of each other and mirroring each other until we get to the outermost contain where it all exists.

In all of the universe there is only one thing, live as though you are a part of everything and everything is a part of you. Look lovingly at everything as you would look on your own reflection, see if it changes your mood.

Love and light,
